Simple page for a special photo
I've mentioned many times here on this blog that I just L-O-V-E pages with great big photos on them! I even wrote an article about the topic for The Daily Digi a few years ago. It's a trick I save for my most favorite pictures and this is definitely one of those for me.
I took this picture with my iPhone. Yep, really! I think I was still using the 5s at the time. I love using an iPhone for night photography because you can tap different parts of the screen to get different lighting effects and find the right setting. This was taken over Thanksgiving weekend in 2013 when my family was in town for a visit. We all went down to Temple Square to see the holiday lights because my sister-in-law had never been before. It's just something you need to do if you are in Salt Lake. It's like needing to see the Vatican when you are in Rome or the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The Salt Lake Temple is iconic around here and they really make the grounds beautiful around the holidays with millions of lights. People from all over the world and from all different religions come to see the holiday lights. Believe it or not, I was in such a big crowd when I took this photo that I had to raise my hands high above my head to make it look like nobody was around. So I'm pretty proud of this picture because it really did capture something special for me.
When it came time to put this memory in a photobook, I created a collage of photos on one page and included the story. I put together this layout for the opposing side. All I did was add some pretty paper from Kristin Cronin-Barrow's Joyful Christmas kit. I ALWAYS love her Christmas kits!
Sometimes keeping it super simple is super satisfying!
