Altered Christmas Journal - Part 1
One of my favorite discoveries this year was finding Red Barn Collections at Swiss Days in Heber, Utah over Labor Day weekend. Let me clarify... I didn't love going to Swiss Days (even though this used to be a favorite event) because it was sooooooo crowded. It was nearly impossible to see or do anything while I was there. Somehow, I was able to navigate into the Red Barn booth and purchase a few special treasures. I bought a Harry Potter journal for my daughter and I just had to have this Little Golden Book of The Night Before Christmas!
I've already established that I have a serious notebook addiction and I think it's safe to say that applies to books, journals, and scrapbooks as well. I just can't be trusted around such things!
This book has the original story pages mixed in with blank white pages to add my own memories, journaling, or whatever I fancy. The only problem is... I've had a really hard time figuring out what I want to put in it. The blank pages are daunting and I don't want to "ruin them". But that's not what it's about. I need to let go of my unfounded fear and have fun with this darling little book. There are so many possibilities for sharing memories, holiday joy, and creative play.
In a perfect world, I would have already started this project (how is it already December 7th?) but there is this thing called real life and it often gets in the way of creativity. I am going to carve out some time for this journal though and I will share my results soon.
Does anyone else out there work on an altered book like this during the holidays? What do you do with yours? I'd love some ideas!
