Joy - checking in on my one little word

Now that we are almost through April, I thought it would be a good time to check in on my one little word. I chose the word JOY to guide me through this year. I haven’t been overly focused on this word but I have made it a point to notice joy in my life and to appreciate it more.

  • I’ve learned to stop and notice the joy I’m feeling when I’m feeling it.

  • I pay more attention to activities and experiences that give me joy. When I document these moments with a photo or journaling, it makes it feel even better.

  • I have been seeking more joyful experiences. I do little things that are fun like watch an episode of The Muppet Show each day with my son Alex.

  •  I have tried to verbally express when I’m feeling joy. Alex has taught me a little bit about that - sometimes after we sing a song (randomly) together or something simple like that, he will say “that was fun” and it has made me realize it’s important to express joy.

What are you doing to choose joy in your life? Don't underestimate how important the “little” things are!
