Almost time for Your Month End August Roundup

With only a few days left in August, I'm starting to think about my monthly roundup. Before we turn the page to September, I like to spend a little time gathering the moments I want to remember while they're still fresh. A little preparation now makes documenting the month much easier later.

If you've ever sat down to create a monthly roundup and wondered where the month went, this is a great time to do a little memory gathering. Scroll through your photos, check your calendar, and think about the routines that shaped your days this month. What were you reading or watching? What projects were you working on? Where did you spend your time? What familiar activities, family traditions, or everyday habits kept showing up?

You don't need to write everything down. Just capture a few notes while they're still fresh. I've found that it's often the routines and ordinary moments we barely notice at the time that tell us the most about what life looked like during a particular season. Those are exactly the kinds of details I'm glad I saved when I look back later.

Notice an everyday moment you want to remember

As August comes to an end, pay attention to the ordinary moments that have become part of your everyday life. Maybe it’s a familiar routine with someone you love, a project you’ve been working on, or the way your evenings have looked lately. If you catch yourself thinking, I want to remember this, take a photo or jot down a quick note. These everyday details may not seem important now, but they tell the story of what life looked like this month.

Take a few photos if you haven't already

Before the month is over, look for a few moments that capture what your everyday rhythms and routines looked like this August. It might be something you did each morning, a familiar evening routine, a hobby you returned to regularly, time spent with family, or a little habit that made your days easier.

You don't need a planned photo shoot. Just capture a few of those familiar moments while they're happening. The things you do over and over can be easy to overlook, but those simple photos will help you remember what everyday life really looked and felt like during this season.

Make a few quick notes

Before August is over, take a minute to write down a few things you don't want to forget. Maybe it was a routine that made your days easier, something that became part of your mornings or evenings, a show you watched, a book you read, or an everyday moment that stands out when you think back on the month.

Don't worry about writing complete sentences. A few words, a short list, or even a note in your phone is enough. Those little reminders can help you remember what everyday life looked like this August when you're ready to put your monthly roundup together.

Use what you already share

Your social media posts can be a great memory keeping tool. Instagram captions, stories, and even comments can help jog your memory. Scrolling back through your posts at the end of the month often brings back details you might have forgotten.

If you share weekly updates or small moments online, you are already doing part of the work. Your roundup just brings it all together in one place.

Keep it simple

Think of roundup prep as collecting little clues from your month. Save a photo, jot down a thought, make a quick note about something meaningful. Those small details become surprisingly helpful when you're ready to reflect back on the month.

I will be sharing the roundup reminders and prompts at the end of the month.
