February Photo Prompts: Capturing Love and Connection
I apologize for not posting the photo prompts earlier in the month. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I’ve been recovering from another surgery (my 4th in 4 years!) But its not too late to take some meaningful photos this month.
This month’s theme is Love and Connection, and one of my favorite ways to lean into a theme is through simple photo prompts. You do not need a big event or a perfectly styled setup. You just need to notice what is already there.
Love shows up in quiet ways. Connection shows up in everyday routines. When you start looking for it, you realize how often it is woven into your normal days.
If you want a few ideas to guide your camera this month, here are some easy photo prompts to get you started.
Easy Photo Ideas for Love and Connection
• A favorite meal shared with someone you care about
• A cozy moment at home
• A text message or handwritten note that meant something to you
• A quick selfie with someone important in your life
• A pet curled up beside you
• A shared routine like morning coffee or an evening walk
• A creative project you worked on together
• A moment of self care
• A small act of kindness you noticed
• A space where you feel connected or at peace
You can keep this simple. One photo a week is enough. Even one photo total for the month is enough.
The goal is not perfection. It is presence.
This was such a fun project. I love building LEGO and I love the floral designs on these letters.
Look for the Ordinary
Photograph the kitchen counter after dinner. The couch where you sit and talk. The book you are reading because someone recommended it. The car ride conversations. The everyday places where connection quietly happens.
These are the images that feel ordinary now, but powerful later.
My husband snapped this selfie of us to send to a friend who was asking how I was feeling. This was taken last night, just two weeks after my surgery. I’m not wearing any makeup and I barely combed my hair. But I still love the picture because it’s just us sitting together. I especially love that he took the photo.
Let Your Photos Tell a Story
When you sit down to do your monthly roundup, these photos will help you remember how February felt.
Who were you spending time with
What made you laugh
Where did you feel supported
How did you show care
Love and connection are rarely loud. They are steady. They are consistent. They are built in small moments.
This month, let your camera help you see them.
These flowers are from friends who showed their love and care by giving me the beautiful blooms.
The way to remember
If something makes you think, I want to remember this, that is your cue. Take the photo. It does not need to be styled. It does not need to be shared. It just needs to help you remember.
My parents gave me this pretty pink orchid as a get well gift after my surgery. It was perfect timing as my white orchid was dropping it’s last blooms. A friend helped me repot it into my favorite cement pot.
Where and how to use these photos
You can use a photo from each prompt, or just one that speaks to you. Add it to a scrapbook page, a journal spread, or your February roundup. Pair it with a simple line about why you took it or what it means to you in the moment.
While I was snapping pictures of my flowers, I decided it was the perfect time to capture my purple waterfall orchid. I’ve never had one like this before and I love it.
I had to include a screenshot from Finch, one of my favorite apps. It’s a way to make your to-do list a lot more fun. February’s theme is Queen of Hearts and I’m always a fan of Wonderland.
A reminder
You don’t have to capture everything. One or two photos that feel meaningful can tell a story all on their own.
