Four Influential Women in Scrapbooking
Chances are, if you are reading this blog, you know of at least one of these four women. They were all extremely influential in the field of scrapbooking as it rose to popularity in the 1990s and 2000s. They each played a big role in bringing personal documentation to the forefront of creativity and memory-keeping endeavors. I still remember the first time I picked up a Creating Keepsakes magazine. I bought all of Becky Higgins's books. I loved the Simple Scrapbooking magazine and books. Those probably influenced my own style of scrapbooking more than anything. I’ve enjoyed seeing projects from all these ladies and watching how they tell their stories evolve. They are all so different but so amazing.
I had personal online correspondence with Stacy Julian when she invited me to be a teacher at Big Picture Classes. I worked with Becky Higgins when I was on her creative team and have spent time with her personally in Arizona and Utah. I have learned so much from following Heidi Swapp, especially her journey and advocacy after her son’s suicide. She has made a difference in my life through sharing her experiences.
These four women recently had a reunion and appeared on a local TV segment here in Utah. It was fun to watch, and I hope you will take a few minutes to watch it. It’s made me think a lot about my own origins as a memory-keeper! Here’s the link to the interview. Enjoy!
