It’s time for a January Roundup!

I'm starting my 18th (eighteen!) year of doing monthly roundups! This is something that I started back on my very first blog back in 2006, and I have kept going strong with the practice ever since then. Creating a quick recap of the month as it ends has been my most helpful memory-keeping tool and something that has made a huge difference (for the better) in how I view my everyday life.

I love sharing this idea with others, and I've had so many tell me that this has impacted their lives. I hope you will take a few minutes to reflect on the month as it ends and celebrate the memories made.

January memory roundup prompts

This year, I’m using a more visual approach for the prompts and I will turn them into a reel on my Instagram feed as well. If you prefer your prompts in a list form, I will be including them at the bottom of the post.

Let’s get started!

what is a memory roundup?

Resources to use for your memory roundup

Document the holidays and celebrations each month

record individual and family updates each month

document reading and learning in your scrapbooks

record the shows and movies you watch each month

Include the news in your memory-keeping

Add fun details to your scrapbook pages

Use your roundup for journals or social media

Use your memory roundup for scrapbooking

Here’s a list of the prompts I use each month. Feel free to pick and choose the ones that you find most useful.

  • Holidays, celebrations, special occasions, and big events from the month

  • Individual and/or family updates

  • Entertainment, media, and learning

  • News and current events: local, national, international, and personal interest

  • Weather, nature, and local scenery

  • Foods you ate, cooking, and restaurants

  • Travels, adventures, play, hobbies, and favorite finds

What to do with your roundup? Compile all the details and record them in a:

  • journal

  • blog post

  • social media post

  • photo collage

  • scrapbook page

Remember that roundups are even better when you include photos!
