How will you be celebrating Halloween this year? It’s an unusual time with the Covid-19 pandemic in full swing, especially here in the United States. Unfortunately, Utah is doing a terrible job of getting the virus under control and our numbers keep rising. We have a lot of kids here in Utah and I understand why they will still want to go trick-or-treating. There are precautions people can take to make this holiday safe and the CDC put out this list of Halloween activities with their associated risk + some ideas. It’s actually a great guide for several holidays so be sure to bookmark or pin it!

We don’t have young children so we are lucky that we don’t have to worry too much about dealing with a different kind of Halloween this year. We do live in a neighborhood filled with kids though so it will be hard to keep our house dark on Halloween night and be anti-social. We do plan to still have a fun night at home with just the 3 of us and there is no reason why we can’t make it memorable with a few fun foods and some good entertainment. I thought I would share some ideas here in hopes that they will help you with your own plans as well.

We will spend some time over the next few days driving around our neighborhood in the dark to see all of the decorated homes. There are some very creative and festive people in our area! We also like going on walks during the day to check out all the cool displays. I’ve been snapping pictures with my phone to use on some Halloween layouts.

We will be staying home on Halloween night and watching movies and probably starting season 2 of The Mandalorian. We are going to turn out the lights and put some signs on our front door letting the trick-or-treaters know that we are taking a year off. If you are looking for something fun to watch these are a few of my favorite Halloween movies. Some will be more appropriate for older children.

One of the best ways to celebrate is to get creative! Decorate your living space and have fun carving or painting pumpkins. My daughter Riley framed one of my printables to display next to some Halloween candy. So cute!

And she also framed this one as well for some festive fun. She just used an inexpensive frame from Wal-mart and now she has a quick & easy decoration!
