At the start of the year, I shared my monthly themes for 2026 as a way to guide memory keeping, journaling, and creative projects throughout the year. I noticed last night after I sent out my newsletter (are you a subscriber?) that I had made a slight error. I had renewal as a theme for March, but realized I had grouped the theme of renewal in with growth for January. I like how that turned out, but I don’t want to be too repetitive, so I made an adjustment. Now, the theme for March will be Moments in Time. Why am I telling you this in February? If you like to plan ahead, I want you to have all the information.

Welcome to a new month. February always feels like a good time to slow down and pay attention to the relationships in our lives. While this month often gets framed around big romantic gestures, I love using it to notice the smaller, more meaningful ways love and connection show up in everyday life.

This month’s theme is Love and Connection, and it’s one of my favorites because it weaves its way through so many of our stories.

Goodbye, January! The first month of the year always feels like a reset—new routines, cozy winter days, and that “fresh start” energy (even if it shows up in tiny ways). As we head into February, it’s the perfect time to pause and capture the moments that made January what it was.

A monthly roundup is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways to reflect on your life. You gather a few favorite memories, add some photos, and spend a few minutes recording the highlights. Before you know it, you’ve created a snapshot of your month, and a little time capsule you’ll love revisiting later.

I love it when I finally get the chance to scrapbook with one of my new collections. I always visualize layouts when I’m creating papers, cards, and templates and it’s fun to see it all come together with my own photographs. Here’s a layout about my grandson’s 3rd birthday using the Clues Crew solid and patterned papers, pocket cards, and template set.

This new collection is my way of documenting the small steps we take at the start of a year, and the ways we keep going when real life does not look like a perfect reset.

The story behind the Growth and Renewal collection

I hope you had a chance to read yesterday’s post about adding monthly themes to my memory keeping (and documenting) process. I’m really excited about this and today, I’ll be kicking it off by introducing January’s theme.

This year, I’m trying something new. Each month in 2026 will have a simple focus word. Think of it as an easy lens you can use for photos, journaling, and scrapbook pages. When you have a theme, you do not have to start from scratch. You can notice everyday moments more easily, then document them with less pressure.
