Enjoy the moment

If you don’t follow me on social media, you might not know that I have a brand-new grandson! Just 20 months after our wonderful grandson Calvin was born, his new baby brother Caleb joined the family. Mom and baby are doing great, and we are all having so much fun!

We are spending several weeks giving some extra support to Riley and her cute little family. We are soaking up all the baby and toddler snuggles possible. Both boys are at such fun stages, and it all goes so fast. I’m trying to focus on enjoying this time. I want to be present in this moment and enjoy every bit of it. So even though there is still a lot going on in our lives, we are trying to hit the pause button when possible and live in this season. I’m in my Grandma era, and I’m loving it!

Some of my favorite bits lately:

  • Scrunchie, squeaky newborn baby cuddles.

  • Little toddler guy who wants to do everything with “Pa” and Grama” - he’s really into us, and we are over the moon about it.

  • Helping with baby bathtime and taking big sniffs of a fresh baby covered in Johnson & Johnson pink baby lotion - one of my very favorite smells!

  • Watching Bluey. We even had a watch party for the new episode (The Sign) that dropped on Sunday.

  • Getting to see Riley and Ryan every day right now. We live several hundred miles apart, so this time is a real treat for us.

  • Experiencing a newborn’s firsts. Watching him come into the world was just incredible. What a blessing to be there!

  • Seeing the world through the eyes of a toddler. Everything is magical. Playing with hangers and shoes in the closet is a favorite. Watching videos of monkeys is so much fun. Reading favorite books together never gets old. Riding in Grandpa’s truck is the bomb! It’s all new and exciting. What a wonderful way to view the world.

One of my favorite ways to document a moment is to jot down a few bullet points. Whatever experiences you are going through right now, try to jot down a few things you are enjoying about this time. It’s a great exercise in gratitude, and you will be glad to have your feelings documented.
