Drive-In movie theaters should make a comeback

I only went to the drive-in movies a few times as a kid, but I remember thinking it was so cool. Now, it just might be the way to keep the movie going business going! I’m lucky enough to have a very comfy reclining couch and a big screen in my basement, so that is definitely my favorite way to watch a movie these days, but I could see going to the drive-in as an activity that I would actually feel comfortable with right now. This article lists 32 of the best drive-in movie theaters in America. Do you have a drive-in theater near you? We only have one in the Salt Lake Valley and the last time I went (probably about 20 years ago) it was quite old and rundown. I hope they will consider upgrading it now that there might be more demand.

Mixed media art journaling is my creative meditation

I’m always pleasantly surprised when I play around with digital mixed media and scrapbooking supplies. I end up with a wonderful piece of art, and I always feel better as well! Seriously, it’s like a meditation for me or something. I don’t worry about capturing an event, or documenting an exact moment. I have fun with the supplies and then that helps me tell a story. I was drawn to this collection by Red Ivy Design at Sweet Shoppe because of the word “Brave” and I thought that would be a good subject to focus on right now. I love how it all turned out!

April roundup time

Another month is coming to end and I want to remember the details of my life during April of 2020. It was a doozy of a month and will definitely be one I remember for a very long time. Doing roundups is a monthly ritual of mine since January of 2006. I just take a few minutes to close out the month by recording the everyday details. It’s been the most valuable tool in my memory keeping arsenal.

I follow a simple set of prompts each month and now I have added a few COVID-19 related items as well.

Remember April 2020

If you are on Facebook, you’ve probably seen someone post something like the entry I’m going to include here. People are realizing that they should document these unusual times and then when they are reminded about them on future anniversaries of this date, they will be able to feel grateful for where they are at. Sound at all like a roundup? I’ve been a fan of this idea since 2006! I’m happy to see the emphasis on recording these memories and even finding some gratitude for the challenges we are facing.

Katie in the Kitchen

I’ve wanted to post about some topics like meal prep, cooking, and my favorite recipes and foods for quite some time, but I’ve decided that now is the exact right moment to get going on this. I have spent a lot of time lately planning, procuring, and obsessing about food because of the COVID-19 pandemic. My mom and I were discussing this yesterday and we came to the conclusion that everyone is feeling a lot more insecure about food in general. Of course, we are among the lucky ones that didn’t already have food insecurity. Now with record unemployment numbers, many more people are living through those fears. My heart goes out to anyone who is struggling with food right now. For now, I’m hoping my readers will enjoy seeing how I’m tackling our food and meal needs.
