3 Creativity Quotes to Inspire Your Creative Life

A good quote can remind us to keep going, try something new, or stop putting pressure on ourselves to make everything perfect. I love collecting creative quotes because they often say something simple that sticks with me long after I read it. Today I wanted to share three creativity quotes that feel especially meaningful right now.

Every artist was first an amateur.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

This quote is such a good reminder that creativity has a beginning point. Nobody begins as an expert. Every scrapbooker, photographer, painter, writer, or maker started by learning as they went. They experimented. They made mistakes. They created things that probably did not turn out the way they hoped. That is all part of the process.

I love this quote because it gives us permission to begin before we feel ready. You do not have to be amazing at something to enjoy it. You just have to start.

You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.

Maya Angelou

So many of us worry that we are running out of ideas or that we have not been creative enough lately. But creativity often grows through use. The more we make, write, photograph, journal, color, or experiment, the more ideas seem to appear. Sometimes the hardest part is just getting started again.

Even small creative habits count. A quick notebook sketch, a scrapbook page, or a photo taken during an ordinary day. Those little moments help keep creativity active in our lives.

Creativity is intelligence having fun.

Albert Einstein

Not every project has to be productive or useful. Sometimes creativity is simply about curiosity, exploration, and enjoying the process. It’s ok to coloring just for fun. Rearranging supplies is also an act of creativity. Trying a new technique counts. Building LEGO flowers or taking photos around your home counts too. Creative hobbies do not need a bigger purpose to matter. Joy is enough.

How to Use These Sayings in Your Memory Keeping

If you use digital supplies, these kinds of phrases work beautifully as:

  • Word art on a scrapbook page

  • A title for a layout

  • A journaling card

  • A quote card tucked into a pocket page

You could build a scrapbook page around one of these sayings, or use the quote as a starting point for your journaling. Instead of simply placing the quote on the page, let it guide what you write about.

A look ahead

If you are enjoying this month’s theme of Creativity, you may want to take a peak at the upcoming themes for the rest of the year. I’m really glad I’m exploring these themes in my own life. It’s making a difference in how I view my own progress and my memory keeping. I hope you will join me!
