Joy in the Everyday: Quotes About Joy

The theme of joy in the everyday is something that I think about a lot. There are a lot of reasons to feel sad, scared, and angry these days. It takes a real effort to find joy and to celebrate it. Choosing joy is an important way to stay mentally healthy.

Count Your Rainbows

Count your rainbows, not your thunderstorms. That is one of my favorite sayings. There are so many storms, but that also means that there are a lot of rainbows. It’s not naive to focus on the good. It’s a gift.

Joy of the Spirit

I had never run into this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson until I started researching inspiration for this collection. I’ve found a lot of quotes from him over the years, but this is probably my favorite. “The joy of your spirit is the indication of your strength”. My mom has asked me before how I find my strength. For me, I find it through keeping my joy. That is what makes my spirit strong.

Focus on the Good

When you focus on the good, it makes the good even better. Paying attention to the positive things in life makes it easier to find even more.

How to Use These Sayings in Your Memory Keeping

If you use digital supplies, these kinds of phrases work beautifully as:

  • Word art on a scrapbook page

  • A title for a layout

  • A journaling card

  • A quote card tucked into a pocket page

You could build a scrapbook page around one of these sayings, or use the quote as a starting point for your journaling. Instead of simply placing the quote on the page, let it guide what you write about.

  • The rainbow quote is a great prompt to reflect on what went well recently. You might write about a moment that lifted your mood or something small that made an ordinary day feel better. It could be a good conversation, a productive afternoon, or something that simply made you smile.

  • The quote about the joy of your spirit being a sign of strength could lead to a different kind of reflection. You might write about something you handled well this month or a situation where you stayed positive even when things were difficult. It is a chance to recognize growth and resilience in your daily life.

  • The “focus on the good” saying can open the door to a simple gratitude list or a short reflection about where your attention has been lately. What good things have been showing up in your days? What are you noticing more now that you are paying attention?

Each of these quotes can help you move beyond decoration and turn your page into a small record of how life is feeling right now.

A look ahead

If you are enjoying this month’s theme of Moments in Time, you may want to take a peak at the upcoming themes for the rest of the year. I’m really glad I’m exploring these themes in my own life. It’s making a difference in how I view my own progress and my memory keeping. I hope you will join me!
