October 2020 roundup complete

Since it feels like we are already 10 weeks into November, I figured I should get my October roundup done. October was another crazy month for us as the numbers in Utah have spiraled out of control. We voted by mail-in ballot and took them to an official dropbox. We watched way too much news and lots of tv shows and movies. The weather was pretty nice most of the month so we took a lot of walks. We did have a record-setting cold spell and even a little bit of snow. We all got our flu shots and I got a pneumonia shot since I'm at risk with all my sickness last year and having diabetes.

We started the month with a small and successful gathering for an early Thanksgiving with my family. We took TONS of precautions by having everyone quarantine for 2 weeks before we got together. There were a few who had to still go into work, and unfortunately, that meant that my sister-in-law was exposed to Covid and she, my brother, and their baby were not able to join us. We were super sad, but also grateful when her test later came back negative. We knew that might happen when we planned it - that's just reality right now. We spread out tables for our meals and ate outside when possible. We wore masks. We physically distanced ourselves. We were so careful. We had a small group that all took it seriously. And it worked! Nobody got sick. We are incredibly thankful we were able to pull it off and glad to have our Thanksgiving done so early.

We had a really fun Halloween even though it was different. We put up caution tape and blocked off our driveway with signs explaining that we weren't accepting trick-or-treaters this year. We turned out the lights, went downstairs and watched The Addams Family movie (the one with Raul Julia) and ate treats all night. We decided it was one of our best Halloween nights.

I'm so glad to have these details documented. Have you done your #memoryroundup yet? It's never too late!
