Setting goals and creating a vision for the year ahead

After choosing my word for 2024 (enjoy), I decided that creating a vision board would be a great way to get started on the new year.

I used a template from the Setting Goals set and papers from the Settting Goals paper pack. I created the word art in Canva.

The story behind my vision board:

I want to enjoy life this year, so I have chosen ENJOY as my one little word.

  • Enjoy my family

  • Enjoy spending time with each person in my family

  • Enjoy being a grandma

  • Enjoy individual time with my hubby

  • Enjoy adventures - the story behind the airplane window photo here

  • Enjoy the scenery

  • Enjoy the beauty around me

  • Enjoy simple moments

My daughter Riley has taught me the importance of creating vision boards, and she has been really great about leading the way for me to get motivated.

She used the Setting Goals collection to design this sweet layout.

The story behind Riley’s vision board:

“Every year since I was in my teenage years I’ve tried to pick out a word to represent my goals for that coming year. I’ve done words like “reach” or “heal,” but this year, I’ve struggled a little bit to find the word that fits.

Before I continue, I feel like I need to give a bit of backstory. I’m not sure why, but Cal gets REALLY pumped about certain words right now: elbow, go, blue, and many other silly little words like these. Ryan works on teaching Calvin how to count (by counting rubber ducks in the bath), and for some reason he’s really really into the number 2 😂😂😂. Whenever there are two of something, he exclaims excitedly, “TWOO!”

This last year in August, we found out we were expecting again, and the idea of 2 under 2 has terrified me. The number two has not given me a bit of stress these last few months.

As I was brainstorming with family about my word ideas, Calvin once again got pumped and exclaimed “TWOO” about something. My dad joked that maybe that should be my word. I know it was a joke, but this is actually the word I’ve decided on for this year.

The words Two or Too have so many different meanings for me this year. I’ve decided that I need to start looking at the fact that 2 kids mean 2 times the love, snuggles, silliness, and so many other wonderful things. I want to cultivate a great relationship between my two boys. I want to focus on my relationship with Ryan (or, in other words, focus on us TWO); it means that I want to take care of myself TOO. This means taking care of my health, both mentally and physically. It means on days I struggle, I can feel these things TOO while still being a good mom”.

I love her word of TWO and I’m excited to enjoy that number as well this year. Can’t wait for grand baby #2 due to arrive the first part of April!

How about these darling papers? The florals are so cute and I especially love the mini red gingham and dark blue tally marks.
