Easy magnetic photo collage board
My longtime followers will probably remember my linen photo board from our last home. I put it together about 7 years ago and loved looking at it every single day. When we moved to our new home in February, I knew that I would want to continue on the tradition, but also make it a little easier to update as time went on and I wanted to swap out for some newer photos. I’m so excited to show you how it all turned out!
Postcard Board
I love collage boards and have used them in several different places in the homes we’ve lived in. I started this practice long ago when I put a giant bulletin board up in our kitchen when my kids were preschool age (circa 1999). I need to dig through my photos and find that!
Now that we are in a new home, it was time to reinvent the postcard board that used to hang above Alex’s desk in our last house. Now this board showcases our Disney postcard collection and it will live in our Disney themed guest bedroom.
Time for some funnies
It’s been a tough world out there lately. I have no answers, but I do have some funnies to share in. hopes of making life seem a little lighter for a few minutes. Hope they bring a smile to your day!
Drive-In movie theaters should make a comeback
I only went to the drive-in movies a few times as a kid, but I remember thinking it was so cool. Now, it just might be the way to keep the movie going business going! I’m lucky enough to have a very comfy reclining couch and a big screen in my basement, so that is definitely my favorite way to watch a movie these days, but I could see going to the drive-in as an activity that I would actually feel comfortable with right now. This article lists 32 of the best drive-in movie theaters in America. Do you have a drive-in theater near you? We only have one in the Salt Lake Valley and the last time I went (probably about 20 years ago) it was quite old and rundown. I hope they will consider upgrading it now that there might be more demand.
Coping through Humor
Thank goodness for the funny content that the internet is giving us because it’s keeping me going right now! I’ve been saving funny images and sending them to friends and family members and they often return the favor. Here are a few of my favorites:
Bullet Journal Ideas and Printables to Keep Your Life on Track - Free Printables
Over the past couple of years, there has been a running trend of an organizational hack called bullet journaling. People have found success in various areas of their life by mastering this style of journaling. I’ve seen a lot of pins and hacks online for using this type of journal to help you through hard times as well so this is a great time to give it a try!
Katie in the Kitchen
I’ve wanted to post about some topics like meal prep, cooking, and my favorite recipes and foods for quite some time, but I’ve decided that now is the exact right moment to get going on this. I have spent a lot of time lately planning, procuring, and obsessing about food because of the COVID-19 pandemic. My mom and I were discussing this yesterday and we came to the conclusion that everyone is feeling a lot more insecure about food in general. Of course, we are among the lucky ones that didn’t already have food insecurity. Now with record unemployment numbers, many more people are living through those fears. My heart goes out to anyone who is struggling with food right now. For now, I’m hoping my readers will enjoy seeing how I’m tackling our food and meal needs.
Finding humor in difficult times
I absolutely do not want to make light of the serious situation we are all facing right now with the spread of COVID-19, but I am grateful to have found a few giggles to get me through the long days. I hope you will enjoy these as well. Stay safe friends!
Creativity as a coping tool
Since my blog is named “Katie the Creative Lady” I’m sure you are aware that I’m a believer in making time and energy for creativity. There are different seasons in life and we all have times where we can’t (or don’t) squeeze in creative activities. I’ve been in that space for a few months now with sickness, holidays, moving, and setting up a new house. I kept telling myself that I would get back to it when life slowed down. Well, boy has that happened! Suddenly, our calendars are empty and we are doing our part by practicing social distancing to keep ourselves and everyone else healthy. While I still have responsibilities (and some minor unfinished house constructions details), I’m grateful for my love of creativity as I know it will be a helpful coping mechanism in this uncertain time.
