Time to roundup July 2021
It’s already the end of the month and that means it’s a great time to roundup your memories and document them before too much time passes. One of the greatest tricks we play on ourselves is thinking we will remember. We don't need to write it down, right? Does that even work for the grocery store? Don’t let yourself fall into that trap. Memories are important!
So take a few minutes and let these prompts help you record the things that happened in your life over the past month.
Laughter makes life better
I don’t know about you, but I need a regular dose of laughter to keep me going in life. I love the feeling of a good giggle and I’m grateful to be able to have a sense of humor to help me keep things in perspective. I’m always collecting silly stuff I see online so I thought today would be a great day to share some new favorites.
Muffin Tin Monday
Have you ever heard of Muffin Tin Monday? It’s just simply putting different foods into muffin tins for a unique presentation. This works especially well for kids and helps introduce them to new foods in a fun way. I made muffin tin meals for my kids when they were really young. I didn't know that they were called that and I certainly never imagined that someday the internet would be filled with photos of such things. I just started a Pinterest board for Muffin Tin snack and meal ideas so be sure to follow it for some inspiration!
The Gallery is Now Open
I’ve been dreaming of my own online gallery to showcase my layouts (and some from my daughter as well) and now I’ve finally made it happen! The top menu bar has a link called “Gallery” so just click on that to be taken to my gallery page.
Two Summers in One
For some odd reason, I read a market projection report from Frito Lay this past spring (I sometimes read random stuff online) and they were saying that they expected sales of their snacks to be robust because of the “two summers in one” approach that many would be taking this year. Their thought was that because most people were on lockdown last summer, that they would be more anxious to be out and about this year.
The assumptions are a bit of an overgeneralization of course, but it gave me some food for thought.
Favorite Fonts - Top picks for the best free handwritten fonts
I’m sharing my favorite handwritten fonts today. My previous font posts have been very popular and I definitely want to continue on this series. I see so many posts out there recommending hard-to-read fonts. I’ve made thousands of scrapbook pages over the years (both paper and digital), taught scrapbooking classes, written for instructive scrapbooking sites, and been a digital designer. I’ve looked at A LOT of text and fonts over the years and have put a great deal of thought and study into my own font choices. It’s tempting to just download all the amazing fonts out there, especially when they are free. If you love fonts, go ahead and download to your heart’s content, but be sure to do some research and figure out which ones look the best. Focus on readability above all else. It will make a huge difference in your projects!
How to fill fonts with paper to create scrapbook titles
I have a brand new tutorial to share and this is one that I think will give you a lot of creative options for your scrapbooking projects. Watch as I show you how to fill fonts with papers to create titles. I also explain what to look for in a “fillable” font and give you some resources to check out for free fonts. I’m so excited to for you to watch this tutorial!
Purple Power - Brand New Color Stories Collection
Are you ready for a brand new collection? I’ve been working hard on this one and having so much fun! I’m really excited about all the possibilities for documenting memories and telling stories with this collection. I’ve already created some favorite layouts and I have ideas for many more.
I can’t wait to show you everything so let’s take a look!
My June 2021 roundup layout
June was a good month for us overall. We got to travel to Lake Tahoe (California side) with my entire family and spend several days just having fun together. I took tons of photos on vacation and I will use those to create different layouts. I didn’t take very many pictures once we got home because I got the first shingles shot and it wiped me out for several days. Seriously, it was much harder for me than the Covid vaccine which didn’t really cause me any problems. Then I sprained my ankle when I accidentally rolled it off the edge of our front porch doormat. Oh well, little life things happen like that.
