End of June
It’s been another crazy month in our world and there are plenty of things to document right now. I hope you will take some time to do a month-end review so you can keep track of all the details. This is what I refer to as a “roundup” and it’s a great way to gather your thoughts and memories from the past month and put them into an easy to access format. I just use a few simple prompts to get organized with this monthly activity.
Easy magnetic photo collage board
My longtime followers will probably remember my linen photo board from our last home. I put it together about 7 years ago and loved looking at it every single day. When we moved to our new home in February, I knew that I would want to continue on the tradition, but also make it a little easier to update as time went on and I wanted to swap out for some newer photos. I’m so excited to show you how it all turned out!
Black Lives Matters resources for your memory keeping - FREE
I have to applaud Persnickety Prints for all they are doing right now to help us document the world we are living in. Including history in my albums is so important to me and I’m very thankful for the many resources they are providing!
Five journaling prompts for Covid-19 Coronavirus times
It is definitely an unusual time for all of us right now in our personal histories and I want to be sure I’m documenting the details. I decided to come up with a short list of journaling prompts to help me keep track of how Covid-19 is impacting my life. I’m going to answer these questions today and then again in the future.
Postcard Board
I love collage boards and have used them in several different places in the homes we’ve lived in. I started this practice long ago when I put a giant bulletin board up in our kitchen when my kids were preschool age (circa 1999). I need to dig through my photos and find that!
Now that we are in a new home, it was time to reinvent the postcard board that used to hang above Alex’s desk in our last house. Now this board showcases our Disney postcard collection and it will live in our Disney themed guest bedroom.
Time for some funnies
It’s been a tough world out there lately. I have no answers, but I do have some funnies to share in. hopes of making life seem a little lighter for a few minutes. Hope they bring a smile to your day!
My May 2020 roundup
I have to admit that roundups have been a bit challenging these last few months with all that is going on in the world. I’m dedicated to recording our family’s history though and that includes the good and the bad. This is such an important time to document and I’m truly grateful for this habit that I established more than 14 years ago of recapping each month. You can read about my roundup prompts and tasks here.
I used digital scrapbook pages as the format for my roundup.
Farewell to the month of May
Well, we have almost made it through May and now it’s time to bid farewell to the month and take a minute to recap our memories. This simple little routine has made a big difference in my memory keeping life. I hope you will give it a try. It’s super easy. I follow a simple set of prompts each month and now I have added a few COVID-19 related items as well.
Drive-In movie theaters should make a comeback
I only went to the drive-in movies a few times as a kid, but I remember thinking it was so cool. Now, it just might be the way to keep the movie going business going! I’m lucky enough to have a very comfy reclining couch and a big screen in my basement, so that is definitely my favorite way to watch a movie these days, but I could see going to the drive-in as an activity that I would actually feel comfortable with right now. This article lists 32 of the best drive-in movie theaters in America. Do you have a drive-in theater near you? We only have one in the Salt Lake Valley and the last time I went (probably about 20 years ago) it was quite old and rundown. I hope they will consider upgrading it now that there might be more demand.
